East Coast Terminal fire under investigation

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- Officials are trying to determine how a industrial fire sparked Wednesday morning at the East Coast Terminal off of President Street.

Officials say employees were off-loading wood chips onto the conveyor belt when a fire somehow ignited at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Georgia Power was called out to shut down power to the facility. Firefighters battled flames on two major sections of the conveyor system and also in a building housing the operation's electrical system.
