SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Popular Southern artist Laura DiNello has donated an original painting to the 2013 Savannah Book Festival that will be used as the image of the 2013 Book Festival and will be auctioned via a silent auction during the Festival’s run.
The 3’ by 4’ painting, done in DiNello’s signature large-scale, angular style, features a couple reading. The painting will be on display along with the bid sheet, at all Savannah Book Festival ticketed events and all day Saturday in the Festival Information Tent.
The winner of the silent auction will be announced at the conclusion of the David Baldacci Closing Ceremony on Feb. 17. Proceeds from the auction will go to support the Festival.
DiNello’s work has been featured on The Travel Channel and is shown in art galleries in Georgia, Florida and Tennessee. She is also featured in Paula Deen’s book Savannah Style.
Robin Gold, executive director of the Savannah Book Festival, said in a news release, “It is so satisfying to have one branch of the arts supporting another. Laura DiNello has donated an outstanding piece of original artwork, and we are thrilled and thankful for her support.”
